*****spoiler alert****** This review is for the Bruschetta Salad only. Amazing and pretty clean tasting with exception to the 'pita bread' it claimed to have. The salad is a great proportion and taste like bruschetta should. I opted for the chicken only and enjoyed every bite! They had a great dressing too! Not too heavy and it complimented the salad perfectly. Colin was ok. That is all.

One star because the quality of the prime rib was fairly decent. Everything else looked tired as in overheated gravy and rubbery scrambled eggs. I tried a variety of things and the worst offender was the eggs benedict, they smelled of horrible and the egg was cold. I understand the need for preparing a few eggs in advance for a crowd and don't mind waiting, however the person in charge of them didn't let people know that there was a wait for the eggs, instead people just looked at the setup and moved on. The au jus tasted like a cheap mix, at least use quality stock! It's available! $14.95 is not too much to spend for brunch but I'd rather spend twice as much for a better quality!

The prime rib on the Sunday buffet is always a hit or miss in quality, though last time I ate there is was the best I've had. If you go to the buffet be prepared to wait 5 minutes just to get a piece. The waiters are fine but seem under staffed. Don't get any drinks from the bar unless you like 3 people touching everything in it. Over all if you're in the mood for a Sunday buffet and don't mind paying $14.95 a person then this place will do if the Marriott is closed. Side note: the hash brown cassation is great.

Sunday brunch: raw prime rib, sour cream hashbrowns, slow table service, even slower service at meat / egg benedict table, coffee is not included in brunch price, mimosa special price is $5.50 for watered down, ice filled beverage. For two consecutive Sundays we witnessed bartender using bare-hands to cut and place orange slices in service area. Then, the waitstaff use their bare-hands to touch the garnish and place in the glass. Bare straws. We used to like to take Grandma here. Not anymore. Go to the Marriott for their inclusive Sunday brunch (mimosa, juice, coffee, and dessert table are included for the same price as G City & Grandma gets a Sr Discount).

Terrible service. Worst service I think I've ever had actually. Took half hour for the bartender to get us a mimosa (we ordered two and never got the second one). He needs to learn customer service. The waiter was no better. We all had the buffet brunch which was decent but they were out of a lot of the items and not refilling it. We planned a whole day of hanging out there but left to go to another place where we could actually get drinks in a timely manner. This place needs to work on their customer service! Will never go back here.

Consistently good food and service, comfortable atmosphere. Had the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and while it wasn't as hot as we would have liked, it was delicious. Our hamburger and flatbread pizza were also yummy. Be sure to try the Granite City Dip with your waffle fries! Also had the blueberry beer and it was fantastic! A little expensive maybe, but enough food for leftovers for lunch. We love this place.

Initially avoided because of old bad reviews. I was foolish. My wife and I had a wonderful time here. The food and beer were both tasty and the service was swift and attentive. Reasonably priced as well! Cheers...

Undersold restaurant and it's in a bad location for a restaurant.Besides that the food is great and so is the service.

IPA is terrible, no hop, dry, tasted unfinished. Ambiance has all the charm of an ER. Run away...don't drink here, don't eat here...be afraid of all of it.

After visiting Granite City Food & Brewery my gut reaction is to call it an upscale Chili's. They seemingly concentrate on offering a wide selection of items, rather than scaling back that selection and concentrating on the quality of those dishes. They have food for whatever mood strikes you at the moment: salads, soups, pasta, seafood, steaks, and sandwiches [burgers included]. I started with a side dinner salad, a heaping bowel of mixed greens with two slices of cucumber and the saddest quarter tomato I've seen for quite sometime, and topped off with a sliver of hard boiled egg. The balsamic vinaigrette came out on the side and I saw a layer of oil on top. Was this because it had been sitting for sometime or because it separates quickly? Blackened chicken linguine was next which was served with thin slices of blackened chicken on top of a heaping pile of linguine in a Parmesan cheese sauce with a bucket of bearnaise sauce on the side [by request], and thankfully I did ask for it on the side. I used to say that there was no such thing as too much sauce, well Granite City, you proved me wrong. The chicken was pretty good, and the pasta sans the bearnaise sauce was decent, nothing special. I indulged a bit and ordered their apple crumble pastry, which seems a little deceptive from the description on the menu. The apple pie filling is cradled in a puff-pastry type bowel with a large scoop of ice cream on top. They didn't heat it up enough so it was barely lukewarm.... =( The restaurant was quiet on a Sunday night, and the service was fine without being overly intrusive. I've seen the parking lot on Friday and Saturday filled with cars, so I can imagine it get quite busy. I'll probably consider going somewhere else before giving GCF&B another chance.

I've been here several times with family. We come without the kids, but there nothing saying you couldn't bring well-behaved older children. Their brewery is cool, if that is your thing. I was told by my guests that the beer is great. The presentation was pretty. I liked the shrimp appetizer. The bar is nice to lounge in and watch the game. The dining is a little more casual and comfortable in there. Overall, a great place.

We came here trying to kill time between a wedding ceremony and reception. This review is based only on drinks in the bar area. I had two different fruity girly drinks and both were nice and strong. The boys stuck to beer. The bartender was really nice, but I was a bit annoyed that she neglected to tell us of all the drink specials until after we ordered the first round. I definitely would have ordered differently had a known! The place is clean and it seems to have a nice atmosphere. If I were back in the area I would definitely return and try out the food!

Well I can say I have finalley tried the Sunday Brunch ($15.00) for an adult meal. It was really good! After reading the reviews I wasn't for sure if I'd like it. My favorite things off the brunch menu were the mashed potatoes and gravy...yummmmmmie!, the prime rib was excellent, the cinnamon rolls were excellent and I tried a bit of the french toast yum and they had some kind of hashbrown casserole yum..steamed veggies (brocolli, cauliflower and carrots) were good. The things I didn't care for too much was the italian salad (the taste was good..reminded me of OLIVE GARDEN) but it was drenched in dressing and a bit soggy and the other thing was the gravy for biscuits and gravy had italian sausage in it instead of country sausage. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I can say I was impressed. They had a ton of stuff on this menu, they had eggs benedict (will try that next time) and bacon and alot of other things..too many to mention. If you go, enjoy!!!! :)

If someone were to regularly be following my reviews, they might be quick to point out that I don't regularly review chain restaurants, to which I would reply A: shut up, and 2: there's a line, somewhere in the spectrum between McDonald's and Ad Hoc where, even if it is a chain, the cooking still manages to stand on its own. I mean, I've reviewed a Houlihan's before, I think, so maybe that's where the line is. I don't know. But I did have an interesting thing happen to me at Granite City, so here's the review: I didn't mind the beer. I actually liked how they focused on styles not normally featured in brewpubs. Light lagers and bocks are hard to come by in places like these. With that being said, nothing really stood out to me, either. The light lager, maybe, if only because not many people are shooting for that type of thing. It should be noted that Granite City invented the franchise brewpub method of brewing in which a central brewing facility creates the wort and then ships it to the individual restaurants to be fermented. So good job, guys? I wasn't sure if I was going to give this place the once-over, so I ended up ordering something non-indicative of the type of food they serve - a SALAD. The bruschetta salad, actually, and I literally laughed out loud to see that this mixture of tomatoes, onions, lettuce, cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette was served with EIGHT slices of bread. Like, half a loaf of bread. Not just eight slices of toasted bread, either, but slices that were slathered in herbed butter and I think sometimes a soft cheese. No way in hell was I eating eight slices of bread in one sitting. Sure, I have eaten entire loafs of bread in my youth, but I was also forty pounds heavier and quite a bit greasier, and I have no urge to revisit those times. I sent all but one slice of toast back to the kitchen. In the interest of health, I also ordered some asparagus and broccoli from the steak section. Neither was extraordinary, but they erred on being a bit underdone, so it wasn't too bad. I guess I would try them again. Once, when I remarked at the sheer quantity of carbs in this salad, and perhaps I had mistakenly ordered an appetizer for four, she replied that yes, those at Granite City were more likely to serve you such quantity that you left feeling a little sick with yourselves. A joke on her part, but still a telling truth about the restaurant: You come to get full and drunk. Whatever happens in the middle there is up to you.

Came here with a group of people and it was just alright. I had the steak and it wasn't the best I've had. The brews weren't very cold. My coworker had some sort of string in his food which the server said was a string from a cleaning cloth...who wants to hear that??? I would have no reason to come back.

ok food, ok service, ok atmosphere. Thus the Yelp 3-stars "A-ok" rating. In town for business, clients suggested lunch here. Seated right away, but waited for any services. Drinks were finally ordered, more waiting. You see the trend. The waitress was working hard, but we were seated in the same section as a large party that was consuming most of her time. The management should have seen this and helped, or seated people in a different section. When the food finally came, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to sample the beers. I guess I'll return when back in town, at least to try the beer.

Had prime rib lunch sandwich and sweet potato fries. Both were good and the service was good too. This may be my 6 the or 7 the time here. I like this place . Clean and really nice atmosphere. Can always have a decent lunch here. For last couple of years we had our company lunch here cos of good food.

The brunch on Sunday was ok. There is a good selection of food. The down side is they try to spiff things up by putting red and green peppers in everything. I have never seen red and green peppers in milk gravy. The prime rib was way under cooked. I know it is supposed to be rare but I think this just had the moo slapped out of it. The best part about this place was the service. Very attentive wait staff.

In Wichita on business. Very pleased with the creative menu, good service, and fresh, flavorful beer (bit of a beer-snob). Roasted beet salad, and Tomato bisque were fantastic. The Scotch Ale, and Boch beers were fresh and tasty. Better than BJ's, I will definitely return here!

Stick with the pub food and craft beer and you will be good. If doing appetizers the Idaho Nachos are a must.

My husband and I have ate here a few times. The first visit: the bacon flatbread appetizer was delicious and crispy, and my maple pecan pork chops came with two huge pieces and it was juicy with a lot of flavor. We told the waiter we were surprised (in a good way) of how large the portions were and he told us people usually share this plate. Second visit was less than average, slow service despite all the empty tables. Our third experience was the worst of all. We split the pork chops expecting it to be consistent with our first visit. Everything on the plate arrived at room temperature. We were starving and the food was still disappointing and dry! In addition, the size of the pork chops were literally (not even over exaggerating) HALF THE SIZE of those we received on our first visit. Our waiter sent the manager to check on us; he said he noticed it too before it was sent out and explained that they are usually a lot larger, and tried to remedy the situation with 15% off and a free appetizer coupon with purchase of adult entree. I feel that there are so many things wrong with how this manager handled this. 1) You took at least 15 minutes to get to our table to speak with us- shows how important customer service is to you. 2) YOU NOTICED the SMALL pork chops and still sent it out. 3) While I was grateful for something, the "Military 15%" off hardly makes up for the HALF SIZED pork chops and cold food- very poor problem solving skills and frankly I was a little insulted. I wish I wasn't hungry still and skipped the apple crumb with vanilla ice cream, but ended up disappointed again with their room temperature, tasting as if it was from frozen and not fresh, skimpy on the ice cream dessert. All in all: poor customer service, inconsistent food, and we will not be coming here again.

I have been going to GC for about two years now. The first few times I went manager was drunk and stumbling around the restaurant. I went a few months ago when my dad was in town to the sunday brunch. My dad and I got the brunch buffet and my fiancé ordered something off of the regular menu. Our server didn't come by our table for 20 minutes and after 40 minutes my dad and I were done eating and my fiance still hadn't received her food so we left and ran through a drive through for her. I always had horrible service but one thing is the food always pretty good, this last time I went I ordered a burger. In the past the burgers were great hand formed patties but this last time I was a frozen patty that tasted horrible and looked like it has drawn on grill lines. they need to get their stuff together.

Gawd, the food wasn't anything special, but they had some of the worst beer I've ever had. Seriously...I can't compare it to PBR or Coors or Keystone, because those don't aspire to much. But I sampled two kinds and they were both like drinking f'ing dishwater, I am not exaggerating. I dare you to drink a whole glass of that stout they serve. I'm thinking about contacting the Man vs. Food guy to see if he will take it on. Me, I'm running in the other direction, but if any of you ever wants to take on a "Worst of Wichita" just for shits and giggles, I'm game. Put GC's brews on the to-do list. Ashley, you're in Chicago and you miss THIS place? You need to get out more, hon.

Traveling to the Wichita area, I was feeling for good beer selection and good food. I hit up yelp and it came down to Granite and River City. I chose Granite after looking at the menus online. Granite had far more selection, probably because it's a chain. I'm not slamming River City - next time I'm in the area, I'll hit them up for comparison. I went for the reasonably priced sampler. If it wasn't a 'school' night, I probably could have had two of those. I do some home brewing and the selection of beers was good. If I hadn't filled up on the half plate of pork, I would have ordered the double IPA. The scotch ale was a little lighter than I'm used to and finished buttery. Wed. night is 1/2 priced bottles of wine, but I was there for the beer. Microbreweries can be like Mom's meatloaf, everyone makes it different and folx have other tastes. My meal was excellent; right portions (half plate for me). Pork was good, greens were excellent w/ lots of garlic (you can never have too much garlic!). My server Aaron was super attentive almost to the point of annoying, but he was a good kid. Ironically, the hostess who seated me had never heard of Yelp.

A chain brewery/restaurant that serves decent food and beer. I have been to this location a few times mostly due to the events that occurred on the first visit. One rainy summer afternoon me and my fiancee were looking for a beer and being new to the city we didn't know of any place to go really and happened upon Granite city. Grabbing seats in the bar we happened to remark that it would be very interesting to see the brewing facility on site. Well our waiter overheard and arranged it for us. The tour was quite interesting, though I was sad to learn the beer is half brewed then shipped to each restaurant. We are also given each a membership in their club, which normally costs $25. For this service alone I continue to come back every once in a while and the service usually continue to be very good. Just keep in mind I have never eaten outside of the bar area, so I can not comment on the service in the main dinning room. For food the bedda chedda burger is pretty tasty and very filling. They have a few appetizers that are tasty and pretty large for the price. The beer selection is limited but they have a few that are pretty tasty. I'd say give it a shot, if nothing else but for a beer, a burger and to watch a game on the TVs in the bar.

It was a Wednesday night and the wait was going to be 5 or 10 minutes for dining. We just bellied up to the bar and ordered food there. Tia, the bartender was fantastic, friendly, and took good care of us. I ordered a turkey burger, honestly nothing to get excited about. But I needed something lighter after heavy dining all week. The fries are a very thin cut and hard to dip into ketchup but tasty nonetheless. I chased it all down with two glasses of Duke of Wellington IPA. I had a good dining experience here and wouldn't hesitate to come back. I'd like to give some other things a try on the menu.

I've been to this location a couple times now and never seem to have any feelings about it, good or bad. I've never actually been the one to choose to go there and I'm not sure I ever will. I did do the beer tasting once, which was interesting, but I'm not much of a beer person. Went on a date here once and while the food was good, the server was obnoxious- always interrupting us and a little over zealous about bringing the check. Today I had lunch- the grilled chicken and bruschetta sandwich and the lunch portion was HUGE- and a bit soggy. Overall, nothing remarkable- the epitome of chain restaurants in America. As before, won't choose to go here unless I'm asked

I try not to review chains, but since there is no Granite City in my home town I think I can get away with it. I went here last night and was underwhelmed. I ate at a Granite City in Minneapolis a few years back and for some reason I remember it being awesome. Not so much this time. The service was slow and our waitress acted like waiting on us was the last thing she wanted to be doing. Our appetizer took 20 minutes to come out, then our entrees followed 3 minutes later. Now I may be a good eater, but even I can't shove spinach and artichoke dip down my throat that fast. My salad was decent, but the dressing was really bland. My 2 coworkers had the same salad and agreed, salt and pepper was necessary if we wanted it to have any flavor at all. The icing on the cake was that my coworker paid for her check with cash. The total amount of her bill was $14.06. The change the server brought her back? A $5 bill. Now any server knows that the #1 rule is to give singles back for change if you want a tip. It was pretty presumptuous of her to think she might get a 30% tip, especially with the kind of service she provided. And on top of that, she basically stole $.94 from my coworker by not giving her back the change. I think that is rude and wrong to the 10th degree. I was a server for 4 years in college. If I didn't have enough change, I had to get it from the bartender or another server. I would never pull the trick she did. And it hurt her more in the long run because that $.94 was all she ended up getting as a tip from my coworker.

Oh, how I miss you Granite City.... I LOVE this place. LOVE it. Granted, I have not been in for over a year since I moved, but I have vivid, wild dreams about the spin dip and idaho nachos. And the salmon with bernaise sauce and asparagus....good lord I am salivating like Pavlov's dogs right now... They've got excellent beer and really good bloody mary's if my memory serves me correctly. The place is always packed on the weekends, but every time that I've been in the wait time is short. Staff is quick and friendly, and management seems to have this place running great. I heard they have one of these near my area - I will have to make it out there.

I was applying for a job here, and was told on phone to come in at 2:30 the next day by 'Jason'. I got there at 2:20 and after an hour and a half, no Jason. Waitresses were nice( and seemed really bored cause no one was in to serve, which told me something too) and finally said I could sit down. After another 20 min. or so, a guy named "Sal" finally came over, and said he had no clue what happened to 'Jason", THEN tells me he just hired 3 people in back, and check back in a couple of weeks. after all that time. I will never eat there, just seeing how the place is ran, and how little other people were eating there. I missed helping out a girl scout troop needing me, for uselessness.

I've been to this location several times and at first I thought it was a great place, but each time I went after that my opinion fell further. The food is hit and miss (lettuce grilled into the quesadillas?!) and the servers are even more of a miss than a hit. The servers are either creepy or they interrupt you in mid conversation to ask if you want more to drink. I've heard the beer is also hit and miss, but since I don't drink I can't confirm or deny that.

This place use to be wonderful 4 years ago....then they raised their prices for the same amount of food. Service is horrible. Food is a hit and miss..sometimes it's amazing, sometimes it's horrible...I can't ever get my drink refilled here either...I say just pass on it!

Meh. I've cooked better at home. It's overpriced. I'm no Martha Stewart, so when I can out-cook a restaurant like this it's high time to look elsewhere. Isn't that really the whole point of eating out? To get something better than you can do yourself?
